What’s my S.C.O.R.E!!!!!
Welcome to the Quarter Horses Track Club S.C.O.R.E informational page. S.C.O.R.E.S stands for Strategic College Oriented Recruitment Evaluation Software which in a nutshell is a way for athletes and parents to evaluate which college classification (D1, D2, D3, etc) would fit their athletes best based on their current times and skill level.
Let’s face it, as parents we all want to believe our child is D1 material but the reality of the situation is that is not always the case. Not being D1 material in itself isn’t a problem because there are many outstanding D2, D3 and NAIA colleges for student athletes to attend. The problem is when parents focus solely on D1 and then at the end of the day realizes their child is not going D1 and having to scramble to find a “non-D1” school or having to be a walk-on. With S.C.O.R.E once an athlete runs a time that qualifies them for any college level his or her parent are notified and will be able to log into the system to review colleges at that level. This process will give parents and athletes a realistic picture of their athletes’ current skill level in relation to college recruiting thus enabling the parent to make a more informed decision to choosing a college.
One of the other biggest benefits of S.CO.R.E.S is that is aids in the communication process with college coaches. One of the most common questions and task parents struggle with during the recruiting process is what to send to college coaches. What parents tend to ask is what type of information is relevant to college coaches and how should it be presented. With S.C.O.R.E.S parents can download a customized letter for their athlete to send to college coaches. The document will be equipped with all the information coaches need to begin the recruitment process. The parents can also opt to have that information sent directly to the college coaches just by clicking a button versus sending it themselves……crazy right.
S.C.O.R.E also serves as motivation for the athletes. What’s my score is a common question around practice, going into track meets and coming out of track meets. Imagine knowing you are only 2 seconds away from running a D1 time in the 400 and you are a freshman….talk about motivation. S.C.O.R.E.S allows athletes to see tangible evidence of the progress they are making towards reaching their goal of running in college.
Finally, S.C.O.R.E.S is designed to make one of the most difficult parts of the recruiting process “a lil bit” easier for parents by streamlining the parts of the process that can be streamlined for the parents.
